Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem is a totally new take on the Ninja Turtles, and it’s not connected in any direct way to any of the movies that have preceded it in theaters. But that doesn’t mean the film isn’t inspired in many little ways by those earlier films (along with the old Ninja Turtles TV cartoons and comics), and knowing what has come before can help you spot all those Easter eggs and references in the new movie.
