James Bond squared off against perhaps his most memorable nemesis in the form of Javier Bardem in 'Skyfall,' and now he'll have his hands full with Bardem's real-life wife in the next installment of the franchise. That's right, folks: Penelope Cruz is your new "Bond Girl"!

According to Yahoo UK, sources close to 'Bond 24' (as it is known for the time being) are saying that the producers of the James Bond series have "tried to get Penelope before, but she has never been available because of other commitments. The discussions have been going on for some time and they are working out the contract details now."

Yahoo makes a big deal of the fact that Cruz (should this report turn out to be true) will be the oldest Bond girl ever at the age of 40, but that's a fairly minor detail if you ask us. The Oscar-winning actress is still as beautiful as ever, and has proven her acting chops in numerous roles. Plus she's already been a part of a $1 billion franchise, appearing alongside Johnny Depp in the last 'Pirates of the Caribbean' film.

There are still no plot details available regarding 'Bond 24,' though reports emerged last week that Sam Mendes will return to direct the series after all -- and we're already dreaming of the possibilities.

What do you think, will Penelope Cruz make a good Bond Girl?
