Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare Introduces Gardens and Graveyards

Borrowing a bit from DICE’s Battlefield franchise, Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare‘s newest mode Gardens and Graveyards puts you on in the backyard with 23 other players in an objective-based throwdown.

As you can see in the footage above, narrated by producer Brian Lindley, Gardens and Graveyards has a bit in common with both Rush and Conquest mode from Battlefield. The Plants must defend various gardens around the map, while the Zombies must attempt to overtake the garden and raise tombstones before time runs out. Should the Zombies win enough of the encounters, there’s a very special endgame waiting for them… which we won’t spoil down here. You gotta watch the video to see just how nuts-o it gets.

Over on Major Nelson’s blog, Lindley chatted about the Xbox exclusive, and where the developers drew their influence when creating the wildly different PvZ title. “We’ve taken inspiration from a lot of different games, including Team Fortress 2,” Lindley said. “But I think it is difficult to compare Garden Warfare to one specific game. That said, as a 3rd person shooter with a variety of different classes, Garden Warfare sometimes reminds me of the Star Wars Battlefront games from a few years back.”

You can learn more about the various abilities and extras you can earn in the interview. Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare will be available on the Xbox One and Xbox 360 on Feb. 18, 2014.
