'Mr. Peabody & Sherman' grew to fame thanks to their adventures on 'Rocky and His Friends.' Now that the duo are getting an animated feature film, it's about time their benefactors (if you will) get their share of the limelight. DreamWorks Animation announced Monday that a new 'Rocky & Bullwinkle' short will be produced for release in 2014.

June Foray, who voiced the flying squirrel Rocky in the original 'Rocky and His Friends' TV series from the '50s-'60s and in 2000's animated movie 'The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle,' will return to voice the character once again in the short. The voice of SpongeBob SquarePants himself, Tom Kenny, will tackle Bullwinkle, previously voiced by Bill Scott in the original series and Keith Scott in the film version.

"For an incredible 83 years, June Foray has left a tremendous imprint on the entire entertainment industry,” said executive producer Tiffany Ward in a statement. “Her amazingly indelible performances have enchanted generations and earned her a permanent place in the annals of popular culture.”

Gary Trousdale will direct the short, with Denise Nolan Cascino producing and writers Thomas Lennon and Robert Ben Garant penning the script.

While no precise release date for the new 'Rocky & Bullwinkle' short has been revealed as of yet, we're thinking it'll premiere in front of 'Mr. Peabody & Sherman,' which will be released on March 7, 2014 and will feature more characters from the beloved world of 'Rocky & Bullwinkle.' Though, we'll keep you updated as more information becomes available.
