'Sharknado 3' Is Coming: Batten Down the Hatches!Britt Hayes |
In the grand tradition of 'The Godfather,' 'Star Wars' and 'Back to the Future,' Syfy ordered a 'Sharknado 3' because you just can't do an epic proper justice unless you make it into a trilogy, thus cementing (or forcefully trying to demand by default) its proper place in classic cinema.
Just how many Sharknadoes (sp?) can there be? When will these fictional people learn their lesson? Hot on the heels of the second 'Sharknado' film, Syfy gave the go ahead for a third 'Sharknado' film. As we all know, a trilogy is serious business -- a trilogy means that something is truly epic, a trilogy means that ... well, it means nothing really because we've had numerous 'Friday the 13th' and 'A Nightmare on Elm Street' movies, with varying degrees of quality. Quantity doesn't necessarily mean anything, and just look at 'Star Wars' if you want to argue about the sanctity of the trilogy, or hell, even the last 'Godfather' movie.
'Sharknado 2: The Second One' (they literally just shrugged that title out and called it clever irony or something) hasn't even premiered yet, and Syfy is already planning a third film. The network has been embracing its "so bad it's good" mentality for a while now, so this really isn't much of a surprise. Wake us up when they decide to reboot the 'Sharknado' series or do a 'Son of Sharknado' and really go whole hog on this intentionally bad business.
