In what proved to be one of the neatest twists of 2015, M. Night Shyamalan restored our faith by returning with the pretty solid horror flick The Visit. And the master of twists is already heading into production on his next thriller, re-teaming with Blumhouse Productions for the newly-titled Split, starring James McAvoy and Anya Taylor-Joy, the breakout star of The Witch.

According to Deadline, Shyamalan’s next film is now officially titled Split, and it will arrive in theaters on January 27, 2017. After underwhelming audiences with The Happening, After Earth and The Last Airbender, Shyamalan delivered the goods this year with The Visit, a wonderfully surprising and smart thriller (white kid rapping be damned), and Wayward Pines, the sci-fi limited series he produced for FOX.

The Visit was made for just $5 million and grossed over $89 million worldwide for Blumhouse, further proving the success of their micro-budgeting model — even if the recent failure of Jem and the Holograms would say otherwise.

Details are very scarce on Split, and while the less we know about a new Shyamalan movie the better, we do know that the film stars James McAvoy, Anya Taylor-Joy, Betty Buckley, Jessica Sula and Haley Lu Richardson. McAvoy can be seen next opposite Daniel Radcliffe in Victor Frankenstein, while Taylor-Joy made a huge impression in the upcoming period horror-drama The Witch, which has generated a crazy amount of buzz on the festival circuit (because it’s great).
