'Sons of Anarchy' Season 5's First Teaser Shouldn't Be Taken Literally

We love a good teaser, and have been far too long without any official looks at the upcoming 'Sons of Anarchy' season 5. Still, one must remember that teasers aren't necessarily representative of what we'll actually see when the latest installment of 'Sons of Anarchy' debuts late this summer, or even at Comic-Con 2012. The first official teaser for the FX motorcycle drama's fifth year probably isn't meant to be taken literally, but has us revved up nonetheless.

When last we left 'Sons of Anarchy,' Jax had finally ascended to the throne of SAMCRO and replaced his ailing surrogate father Clay Morrow, left to ponder his many sins in the hospital. Considering all the trouble bound to be heading SAMCRO's way after the death of criminal boss Damon Pope's daughter, and the authorities nipping at his heels, how will Jax fare as the group's new leader?

Not well, if the first official teaser is to be believed. While not to be taken literally, the teaser features the Sons of Anarchy riding along, when Tara and Gemma appear on the road to warn him, before Jax swerves out of control and careens off a bridge! It's more than likely a simple metaphor, but either way things don't look particularly good for the new club leader.

Elsewhere, 'Sons of Anarchy' season 5 boasts an impressive array of cast additions, including Ashley Tisdale as escort Emma Jean; Billy Brown as August Marks, right-hand man to Harold Perrineau’s major villain character Damon Pope; as well as Jimmy Smits as Neron “Nero” Padilla, “a Latino gangbanger with an exit strategy who becomes a dangerous mentor for Jax.”
