Not too long after the new 'Star Wars: Episode 7'-led trilogy was announced by Disney and its acquisition of Lucasfilm, it was revealed that the studio was looking to kick things off in the summer of 2015. In case you were thinking that was just hearsay, it's now been confirmed by Disney -- and that's not all! How would you like to know when the other movies will likely hit?

The 'Star Wars' universe will become even larger with 'Star Wars: Episode 7' officially aiming for a summer 2015 release, according to studio reps at this year's CinemaCon in LA. But what about the subsequent trilogy? And what about those 'Star Wars' spinoff movies Lucasfilm promised?

In addition to this confirmation, Disney and Lucasfilm announced their goal of releasing a 'Star Wars' movie every summer following 'Star Wars: Episode 7' in 2015, and that the slate will alternate between a spinoff and a film within the new trilogy. We're taking this to mean the first 'Star Wars' spinoff will come in summer 2016, 'Star Wars 8' in summer 2017, etc. No word yet on exactly how many spinoffs will be made, though.

Aside from the involvement of 'Star Trek' and 'Star Trek Into Darkness' director J.J. Abrams, much of what we know (or rather, what we think we know) about 'Star Wars: Episode 7,' its trilogy and the spinoffs are based on early reports and rumors. While it's been stated that the original cast of Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher are all returning for the upcoming run, none are officially admitting it. (Ford won't even discuss it anymore.) In addition, early reports say that the first two 'Star Wars' characters on the docket for spinoff movie treatments are a young Han Solo and Boba Fett, but of course everything could change as we get closer to that 2015 date. Plus, who knows if the J.J.'s team will make it in time.
