'Star Wars' fans were treated earlier to a report that, in addition to the 'Star Wars: Episode 7' trilogy, Yoda might be getting a stand-alone movie. It sounded too good to be true, we know, but now it looks like the rumor may hold some water as a Disney representative has recently confirmed plans for 'Star Wars' spin-off movies for various characters. Now the question is, which ones?

In an interview with CNBC, Disney CEO Bob Iger confirmed to the 'Star Wars' fanbase that spin-off films are indeed being developed as separate from the upcoming 'Star Wars: Episode 7'-led trilogy.

There's been speculation about some stand-alone films in development and I can confirm that, to you today, in fact we are working on a few stand-alone films -- Larry Kasden and Simon Kinberg are both working on films derived from great 'Star Wars' characters that are not part of the overall saga, so we still plan to make 'Star Wars 7,' 8 and 9.

As Iger also mentions, Kasden (who wrote 'The Empire Strikes Back' and 'Return of the Jedi') and Kinberg are working closely with J.J. Abrams on a consultant level to create these stories. The new trilogy, starting with 'Star Wars: Episode 7' in 2015, is currently set to be released "roughly over a six-year period of time," says Iger, and we'll get to see these 'Star Wars' spin-offs in that same time span.

While Iger was not able to specify which characters exactly would be getting their own spin-off films -- saying, "I'm gonna leave it to Kathy and the Lucas team to provide all the details when they're ready" -- we can't help but immediately turn to Yoda, who was just recently rumored to get his own stand-alone flick.
