'The Rocky and Bullwinkle Show' was required viewing growing up as a kid and part of the reason it was so popular was because one of the segments was about a really smart dog and his time-traveling adventures with his owner. Now those adventures are coming to the big screen courtesy of Dreamworks Animation, and Stephen Colbert is a part of it.

Stephen Colbert and Allison Janney have been cast as voice talents in Dreamworks' upcoming animated film 'Mr. Peabody & Sherman.' Mr. Peabody has the smartest mind on the planet -- only he happens to be a dog. He and his human buddy Sherman use their WABAC (pronounced "way back") machine to travel through time, only they always have to fix the mess they've made regarding historical events. The show was a lot of fun to watch so a big screen version is pretty cool.

THR reports that Colbert will be playing Mr. Peabody's nemesis, Paul Peterson. Janney has been cast as his wife, Paula Peterson. Ariel Winter has been cast as the daughter, Penny Peterson.

Ty Burrell will be voicing Mr. Peabody and Max Charles voices the role of Sherman. Dreamworks is so high on the project that they have moved it up from March 14, 2014 to November 8, 2013, bumping their other movie 'Me & My Shadow.'

'The Lion King' director Rob Minkoff will be helming Peabody and Sherman's big screen adventure from a  script by Craig Wright. Hopefully the plot of the movie is Peabody and Sherman going back in time and preventing 'Bee Movie' from ever happening.
