By now, you’ve probably decided to go in one of two different directions. Either you are steadfastly refusing to watch any additional Suicide Squad footage — having made your mind up ages ago to see the film and hoping not to ruin major moments in the film any more than you already have — or you’ve decided, screw it, and are gorging yourself on the many, many photos and character clips that Warner Bros. has prepared for us. If you’re part of the first group, then I’m sorry to say that the best Suicide Squad video just dropped and you’re probably not going to get to see it.

The new trailer released at Comic-Con International 2016 isn’t really about new footage — with the exception of an opening monologue from Will Smith’s Deadshot, most of the footage should look pretty familiar by now — but it’s how they’ve cut together the footage that makes the difference. Since the new trailer is as eager to promote the Suicide Squad soundtrack as the movie itself, we’re treated to what basically amounts to a three-minute-long music video. It’s energetic, offbeat, and it shows off everything we hope that Suicide Squad can be.

Everything on my own personal wishlist for the film — humor, intentionally disorganized fight sequences, an offbeat rhythm that syncs up more with director David Ayer than DC Films— is evident in spades in this new trailer, making the case that Suicide Squad is at its best when it is the music video industry’s answer to a comic book adaptation. Here’s hoping there are musical cues a-plenty in the final product.

If there’s any chance that you still don’t know the plot of Suicide Squad and would like to learn more, here’s your description:

It feels good to be bad… Assemble a team of the world’s most dangerous, incarcerated Super-Villains, provide them with the most powerful arsenal at the government’s disposal, and send them off on a mission to defeat an enigmatic, insuperable entity. U.S. intelligence officer Amanda Waller has determined only a secretly convened group of disparate, despicable individuals with next to nothing to lose will do. However, once they realize they weren’t picked to succeed but chosen for their patent culpability when they inevitably fail, will the Suicide Squad resolve to die trying, or decide it’s every man for himself?

Suicide Squad stars Will Smith, Margot Robbie, and more and will hit theaters on August 5, 2016.
