Anyone following Suits in the last few years has kept an eye on Meghan Markle’s ring finger, knowing that a royal engagement tends to supersede TV roles. Well, consider it doubly-official – Markle is confirmed to exit Suits after news of her engagement to Prince Harry.

Even as both Markle and on-screen fiancé Patrick J. Adams were reported to exit the fan-favorite USA drama ahead of a potential eighth season, hers and Prince Harry’s engagement naturally pressed the issue. Were there any lingering doubt, USA issued a statement to congratulate the happy couple and confirm Markle’s Suits-free future (via Deadline):

From all of us at USA Network and Universal Cable Productions, we want to send our most heartfelt congratulations to Meghan Markle and Prince Harry on their engagement. Meghan has been a member of our family for seven years and it has been a joy to work with her. We want to thank her for her undeniable passion and dedication to Suits, and we wish her the very best.

Prior to that, series creator Aaron Korsh seemingly hinted at her exit as well:

In the meantime, Markle and Adams will remain with the seventh season of Suits, though an eighth season is still considered likely without them. The series is also developing a Chicago-set spinoff around Gina Torres’ character, so stay tuned for the latest.
