New ‘Supernatural’ Pics: Dean’s Vampire Buddy Scowls, and What Happened to Castiel?

'Supernatural' season 8 has yet to premiere its first episode, debuting with "We Need to Talk About Kevin" on Wednesday, October 3, but that doesn't mean we can't drool over new pictures from the second episode! 'Supernatural' season 8 sophomore effort "What's Up, Tiger Mommy?" isn't being particularly shy about some spoiler-y new shots, so what have we learned about Dean's mysterious new friend and the increasingly-desperate fallen angel Castiel?

The first official clip from 'Supernatural's' season 8 premiere episode "We Need to Talk About Kevin" dumped a lot of info in advance of its October 3 premiere, in particular that Dean's time in Purgatory culminated with an (apparently) grisly end for their angel friend Castiel. Still, with Dean having spent a full year in the hellish landscape of Purgatory, plenty more must have happened between now and then.

Courtesy of The CW, we've gotten our hands on a bevy of new shots from season 8's second episode "What's Up, Tiger Mommy?," which features some large flashbacks to the missing year in question. In it, we get plenty of new shots of Dean's vampire friend Benny, as well as Castiel himself, alive and... well, alive! Not to mention, the new photos tease plenty of other mysteries, such as what might have befallen the prophet Kevin's mother, and what Crowley and his new tablet have to do with it!
