Although 'X-Men: Days of Future Past' opens next summer, we still don't know too much about Bolivar Trask, the latest villain to threaten mutantkind. Played by 'Game of Thrones' star Peter Dinklage, Trask is the scientist behind the Sentinels, giant killer robots that have been menacing the X-Men for decades in the pages of the comics. But beyond that? We don't know much about his on-screen incarnation. Thankfully, Dinklage himself recently opened up about his character, revealing that one of 2014's biggest bad guys might not be such a bad guy after all.
All week long we've been talking about the hot movie franchises turning to TV to extend their longevity, though in the case of Syfy and 'X-Men' director Bryan Singer's latest co-venture, we only need a dash of something monstrous. Singer will helm a kaiju-themed monster drama pilot for Syfy titled 'Creature At Bay,' putting a new twist on the monster destruction genre for an ongoing series.
Remember when, in Brett Ratner's 'X-Men: The Last Stand,' Cyclops, himself being a mainstay in the 'X-Men' universe, met his end offscreen at the hands of a mentally unstable Phoenix/Jean Grey? Fans held on to the hope that he might still return to the big screen somehow in Bryan Singer's 'X-Men: Days of Future Past,' especially after James Marsden was spotted flying back from the Montreal set with former co-star Halle Berry (playing Storm in the new movie). However, this was one event Singer could not change.
We've known for some time that 'X-Men: Days of Future Past' would feature the mutant-hunting Sentinel robots, since Fox creative consultant Mark Millar let the news slip back in February. Since then, Peter Dinklage has revealed he'll be playing the inventor of these insidious monsters in the film and a recent viral campaign has already started teasing them. But now, director Bryan Singer has shared an image that tells us two very cool things about the Sentinels as they'll be seen in the film. First, they actually built one for the movie. Second, they will be huge!
Ever since 'X-Men: The Last Stand' offered a brief cinematic rendering of a giant Sentinel robot with Hugh Jackman's Wolverine slicing its head off in the danger room, 'X-Men' fans have been craving a full-body look at these mutant-hunting bots. Thankfully, prayers have been answered as these icons of the comic books have become the forefront of Fox's marketing for 'X-Men: Days of Future Past.'
The Comic-Con 2013 panel from 20th Century Fox was pegged as a must-see event at the convention; not only were fans foaming at the mouth for the latest offerings from 'The Wolverine' and 'Dawn of the Planet of the Apes' -- the former prepping for release on July 26 -- but also for some sort of reveal for Bryan Singer's 'X-Men: Days of Future Past.'
Comic-Con 2013 is almost upon us, and one of the more hoped-for panels is the one for 20th Century Fox. Fans have been hoping to catch an update or two on Bryan Singer's 'X-Men: Days of Future Past,' and, though shy of an official announcement, a panel will reportedly happened. In fact, we've already stumbled on some of the "big surprises" coming our way.
