Scarlett Johansson is breaking with her current sci-fi trend for her next film, which takes her into the realm of the crazies with The Psychopath Test, based on the book of the same name by Jon Ronson, who also wrote The Men Who Stare at Goats. Before you start feeling disappointed that this isn’t another sci-fi project, consider this: The Psychopath Test will be helmed by Jay Roach from a script by Kristin Gore, an uncredited writer on films like Her and Foxcatcher. Oh, and it stars Scarlett Johansson, so you almost don’t need another reason to care.

HBO will shed an impressive amount of its programming over the course of 2014, airing final seasons of 'True Blood,' 'The Newsroom' and 'Boardwalk Empire,' atop the cancellations of 'Family Tree' and 'Hello Ladies,' so it isn't a surprise to see a star-studded pilot getting the fast track. To that end, HBO's Jay Roach-directed geopolitical comedy 'The Brink,' starring Jack Black and Tim Robbins, has already been given a series order.

Now that Bryan Cranston is done shaving his head for 'Breaking Bad,' he can finally lead a motion picture, and it appears that the former Meth King of New Mexico will star in 'Trumbo,' a biopic about Dalton Trumbo -- the most famous of the screenwriters put on the Hollywood Blacklist.

Considering he just won them a bucket full of Emmys for the Julianne Moore-fronted Sarah Palin drama 'Game Change,' HBO is staying in business with director Jay Roach.  Following his second directorial effort at the pay-cable network, Roach will next set his sights on developing a full-length series for the network, aided by 'Zombieland' scribes Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, but what could their new drama 'Our Father' bring to the table?  Does HBO have a wing and a prayer to do another show about faith?
