As we're currently in the throngs of awards season, studios are combing through movie reviews to find the most beaming critiques to place in new "critics" TV spots to promote their films' Oscar clout -- look at ones for 'Gravity,' 'Dallas Buyers Club' and the like. Well, leave it to 'The Muppets Most Wanted' to come up with one that puts all the rest to shame.

Weekend Box Office Report: 'The Heat' and 'White House Down' Play Second Fiddle to Pixar

What happens when two new releases that look like sure-things smash into the unstoppable wall that is a Pixar movie? Well, you get one second place hit and one severe disappointment. 'The Heat' still looks good next to the continued success of 'Monsters University,' but it made 'White House Down' stumbling at the starting line look all the more horrible.

Zombies may be really hot right now, but there's one thing that is (and probably always will be) a bigger deal: Pixar. Brad Pitt's 'World War Z' performed quite well in its opening weekend, but even the biggest zombie movie of all time couldn't keep pace with 'Monsters University.'

The monsters are coming, the monsters are coming! No, wait, the monsters are here! In one of the bigger weekend showdowns of the summer, we've got two different types of creatures facing off: the zombies of 'World War Z' and the, well, monsters of 'Monsters University.' So which film will get your hard-earned dough this weekend!

How a Pixar Movie is Made: Behind the Scenes of 'Monsters University' With Story Supervisor Kelsey Mann

Disney-Pixar
Pixar makes a lot of movies. A lot of great movies. So how do they do it? And more importantly, how do they keep doing it? We were invited to visit the Pixar campus in Emeryville, California to watch the 'Monsters University' team work and try to answer that very question.
First up is Story Supervisor, Kelsey Mann. He is responsible for all the storyboards for 'Monsters University,' which serve as the framework for the film, while it is being animated. We met Mann inside a plush movie theater with a workstation at the center hooked directly into the screen. He took out a digital pen and a drawing board and immediately began sketching out a scene from the film when Mike Wazowski enters his dorm room and turns on the lights. It's a drawing that would take you or I about three hours to finish but he completed three storyboards (and had them animated) in about three minutes.
We spoke to Mann about what it's really like to work at Pixar (a lot harder than you'd think), the true story behind that "Pixar's Rules of Storytelling" post that went viral (it's not actually from Pixar) and what 'Star Wars' movie he wishes Pixar could make.

All the Pixar Movies Ranked From Worst to Best!

There are no film studios that inspire such fervent loyalty as Pixar. Since 'Toy Story' in 1995, the Disney-owned company has consistently raised the bar when it comes to animation, pumping out masterpieces (and a dud here and there) on the regular. To look at the complete Pixar filmography is to look at a list of some of the best movies released in the past twenty years.
With 'Monsters University' opening this Friday, it's time to place all 14 of Pixar's feature films (and their many short films!) side-by-side and see which ones come out on top. Which Pixar film is the best? Which one is the worst? Well, let's take a look...

'Monsters University' Review

College is not an obvious setting for a Pixar movie. For all the vaunted animation studio's reputation for producing mature, adult children's films, college lends itself to a more immature brand of adult humor -- the kind with lots of nudity, profanity, and outrageous drunken antics. Sure enough, Pixar's 'Monsters University' brings new meaning to the phrase "safe school" -- this G-rated riff on 'Revenge of the Nerds' and 'Animal House' (they probably thought about calling it 'Monster House' at some point, right? They had to) doesn't push any envelopes in terms of content or humor. It's basically a formula college comedy, minus the raunch, in the world of 'Monsters Inc.' Nevertheless, it's a formula executed by some very talented animators, who've produced a lively, if mostly forgettable, movie.
