'Neighbors' had its world premiere at the SXSW Film Festival this past week the response was mostly positive (you can read our review here). After all, it feels like it's hard to go wrong with R-rated, Seth Rogen-led comedies these days. A new clip from the film has arrived online, giving us a taste of the laughs the finished film contains.
Any pop culture aficionado of a certain age will remember the dueling video game fandoms of the 1990s. You were either a Nintendo person or a Sega person, and death to the morons who thought differently! However, the drama between suburban living rooms had nothing on the drama behind the scenes, where the young Sega company fought tooth and nail to compete with Nintendo, who had a stranglehold on the video game industry. This fascinating story is about to become a book called 'Console Wars' and that book will become a movie by way of Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg.
Some months ago, we heard rumblings that AMC was gearing up for a 'Preacher' TV drama, based on the iconic comic series, under the surprising umbrella of 'Superbad' team Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg. Now, the network officially confirmed 'Preacher' for the development slate, placing the sinful series on track to be the next 'Walking Dead.'
When I got a chance to sit down with Zac Efron, Evan Goldberg and Seth Rogen on the set of their upcoming R-rated comedy, 'Neighbors,' Efron was easily the most amped to be there. Perhaps he worried that he would be stuck for much of his career playing in romantic comedies, and similar Disney-fied films (more women break out of the child star shackles than teen heartthrobs). For him it might very well change everything.
Where for Rogen and Goldberg, who recently finished ‘This Is the End’ at the time of our interview, the movie was a transition point as Rogen is now getting old enough to play a responsible adult and parent. And though he produced ‘Neighbors’ with Goldberg, he definitely maintains his hand in the process.
Read on for my interview with Zac Efron, Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg on the set of 'Neighbors.'
In a surprise to no one, director Nicholas Stoller’s new film, ‘Neighbors,’ features male nudity. The film focuses on a married couple played by Seth Rogen and Rose Byrne, whose characters are raising a child, and the frat house next door run by Zac Efron and Dave Franco. In the scenes we saw from our visit to the set, there are a number of big parties in the film, and the frat brothers behave as they will -- which means they’re going to get out of hand and is what creates the central conflict in the film.
The last we saw Seth Rogen, James Franco and Jonah HIll onscreen together was in 'This Is the End,' but the trio won't wait long to reunite as they're already planning one big, R-rated 'Sausage Party.' Yes, it sounds like something one of your bros would say while funneling some PBR at a frat party, but this is in fact the title of Rogen's upcoming animated movie. Funny enough, the recently announced voice cast for the film is also a bit of a sausage fest.
If Zac Efron can take a shot to the jaw with dignity (too soon?), he can certainly handle anything Seth Rogen has to throw at him. The two star in the upcoming comedy 'Neighbors,' the trailer for which features the two in a heated showdown as a family man and a douchey frat guy trying to boot the other off their residential block.
The world collectively chuckled last week as Kanye West revealed his ludicrous "Bound 2" music video, which co-starred his fiancee Kim Kardashian, who rode topless on a motorcycle. Get ready to laugh even harder as Seth Rogen and James Franco made a shot-for-shot remake of the "Bound 2" video on the set of their new movie, which gives new meaning to the lyric, "I wanna f--- you hard on the sink."
We knew that 'The Simpsons'' current season would pack a wallop with its existing crop of guest stars, as well as an upcoming installment produced from a decade-old Judd Apatow script, but this is getting ridiculous. Newly added to the season are Apatow himself, along with frequent collaborators Seth Rogen, Paul Rudd, Leslie Mann and even Channing Tatum, while 'Parks and Recreation' star Nick Offerman will appear later on!
