UnREAL creator and former Mad Men writer Marti Noxon has been developing a series based on Gillian Flynn’s debut novel, Sharp Objects, for a couple of years now. But the project only really began to pick up steam recently as Amy Adams signed on to headline the series with Demolition director Jean-Marc Vallee attached to helm. Although previously speculated that the series could end up joining UnREAL on Lifetime, HBO has officially secured the television rights, adding a little extra prestige to the equation.

Wonder Woman Isn’t Enough to Save ‘Batman vs. Superman’s Women From Injustice

Even before the early reviews began rolling in, the trailers solidified Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman as the most exciting attraction in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Audiences agreed, as Wonder Woman — whose name isn’t even in the title of the film — ranked highest in a recent poll that asked fans which character they were most eager to see in Zack Snyder’s superhero epic. As predicted, Gadot’s debut is definitely the best thing in Batman v Superman, and although her part only makes up about seven minutes of the film’s 150-minute runtime, those few minutes are riveting — but not enough to justify Snyder’s unfortunate treatment of the remaining female characters.

As has been widely reported, the early critical reception to Batman vs. Superman has not been kind. The Rotten Tomatoes rating continues to plummet; what was once at 42% yesterday, now stands at 32%. What’s awkward is that the cast is still making...

Just a couple of months ago, a foreign website offering pre-sale tickets for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice appeared to have the official runtime for Zack Snyder’s superhero epic, clocking the film at a lengthy 151 minutes. In addition to confirming that runtime, Warner Bros. has released a few new character posters, giving Alfred, Lex Luthor and Lois Lane their very own one-sheets.

Following the success of David Fincher’s acclaimed Gone Girl adaptation, the long-developing series based on Gillian Flynn’s first novel, Sharp Objects, is finally picking up some steam with unREAL co-creator Marti Noxon as showrunner. Not only has Noxon found her leading lady in Amy Adams, but she’s also tapped Wild director Jean-Marc Vallee to helm, with Jason Blum of Blumhouse producing and Flynn herself on board to write. That’s quite the killer lineup.

A couple of weeks ago, Forbes revealed its annual list of the highest-paid actors in Hollywood, with Robert Downey Jr. effortlessly landing the top spot. This week, the publication has released the list of the highest-paid actresses in Hollywood, with Jennifer Lawrence taking the number one spot followed by Scarlett Johansson — hardly surprising, but what makes this list interesting is that many of the women on it earn far less than their male counterparts.

Amy Adams and Jake Gyllenhaal are two of the most talented actors working right now, so the idea of them eventually combining their talents for one film just makes sense. Early last year, the actors were set to star together in Ezekiel Moss, which was intended as the directorial debut of Philip Seymour Hoffman before his tragic passing. But now they've found another opportunity to team up on the big screen with director Tom Ford’s Nocturnal Animals.

In other Jeremy Renner news, following the announcement that he’ll officially reunite with some of his Avengers pals for Captain America: Civil War, Renner has signed on for another reunion: The actor will team up with his American Hustle co-star Amy Adams for the upcoming sci-fi thriller Story of Your Life, set to be helmed by Denis Villeneuve, the acclaimed director of Prisoners.

‘SNL’ Scorecard: Amy Adams Sings and Dances Her Way Through Christmas And Dr. Evil

The narrative surrounding ‘SNL’ for the last year and a half is that it’s a show that’s “rebuilding.” And, yes, last season, that was true. But it’s weird: That narrative is still lingering even though, for people paying attention (I tend to pay attention), this 40th season has been very, very good. Last year, ‘SNL’ relied way too much on in-the-moment pop culture references (never a good sign). This season—including what we saw again during Saturday night’s Amy Adams-hosted episode—was all about great writing and great execution. It wasn’t quite as consistent as last week’s Martin Freeman-hosted show, but ‘SNL,’ right now, has a lot of momentum headed into its winter break. (When it returns with Kevin Hart, I really hope we see a sequel to ‘Z-Shirt.’ Please make this happen, Tim Robinson.)
