Although Phil Lord and Chris Miller aren’t returning to direct the LEGO Movie sequel, the duo will stay on as executive producers and are writing the screenplay for the project. We’ve been wondering who might be awesome enough to direct the sequel, which has been given the difficult task of living up to its predecessor, and now we have an answer: Rob Schrab, known best for directing episodes of former NBC series Community.

‘Jump Street’ Directors Say ‘Men in Black’ Crossover in Play
We mostly assumed that a ‘23 Jump Street’ movie would never happen. Where could you possibly go after the lunacy of the ‘22 Jump Street’ end credits that joked at the idea of horrible sequels up until ‘43 Jump Street’ (subtitled “Mariachi School”). Then came reports late last year of an idea so insane that it might actually work: crossing over ‘23 Jump Street’ and ‘Men in Black’. It was so insane, in fact, that a lot of people thought it wasn’t real. But, directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller promise that it’s very real and that they’re currently developing the project at Sony.

Just yesterday we reported on an update from filmmakers Phil Lord and Chris Miller regarding their script for ‘The LEGO Movie 2,’ who offered up some plot details for the coming sequel. Today brings another update from Lord and Miller—this time regarding the highly-anticipated spin-off ‘The LEGO Batman Movie,’ in which Will Arnett will reprise his role as everyone’s favorite brooding superhero. We kind of know what ‘The LEGO Movie 2' is about, but what will LEGO Batman's new spin-off be about?

Originally, ‘The LEGO Movie’ writing and directing duo Phil Lord and Chris Miller planned to act solely as producers on the sequel. But that’s changed, and the pair will now write the screenplay (though they are still not directing), as well as produce the sequel and its planned spin-offs. Lord and Miller have previously revealed little about ‘The LEGO Movie 2,’ but in a new interview they’ve opened up about why they decided to write the script, and deliver a few details about the sequel as well as the LEGO Ninjago and Batman films.

If and when you see ‘Annie,’ you’ll notice the fake movie within the movie called ‘Moonquake Lake,’ starring Ashton Kutcher, Mila Kunis, and Rihanna. The trailer for that film wasn’t helmed by ‘Annie’ director Will Gluck, though—it was put together by hilarious geniuses Phil Lord and Chris Miller, the filmmaking duo behind the ‘Jump Street’ films and ‘The LEGO Movie.’ Not only does this trailer perfectly parody ‘Twilight’ and similar angsty, supernatural romance films for young adults, but it comes with its own theme song from Beck and Sia.

‘23 Jump Street’ is a sequel that is surely happening, this despite all the many hilarious sequel jokes during the ‘22 Jump Street’ end credits. The franchise is just too popular to let die. But, how exactly would you sequelize ‘22 Jump Street’, which did a pretty effective job of sending up sequel cliches? Well, you send Jenko and Schmidt to the Men in Black program, of course.

Phil Lord and Christopher Miller aren’t generally known for keeping their work under wraps, but thus far FOX’s midseason comedy ‘The Last Man on Earth’ has been all-but airtight beyond ‘SNL’ alum Will Forte’s central role in the series. Now, we learn that Forte is no longer the last living soul the title would suggest, as the cast has raptured ‘Mad Men’'s January Jones, comedian Kristen Schaal, Mel Rodriguez and more.

What We're Thankful For in Movies and TV in 2014
Another Thanksgiving is upon us, which means we'll gather around tables with friends and family and be asked to share what we're thankful for. Here at ScreenCrush, we think now is a good time to reflect on the wonderful bounty that has been delivered to us from the benevolent creators of film and television throughout 2014. This year has given us much to be grateful for, and so now we say thanks as we prepare to stuff our faces and fall into meat and pie comas (and ready ourselves for that 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' trailer).
