Christian Bale is not an actor who shies away from punishing himself on screen. Whether he's starving himself for 'The Machinist,' enduring a brutally uncomfortable Batman costume for 'The Dark Knight' or simply appearing in a movie as bad as 'Terminator Salvation,' Bale is no stranger to torment. Therefore, it's no surprise that the Oscar winning actor is ready to brave deadly winds and harsh colds for 'Everest.' The man really seems to hate being comfortable.
The 2013 Oscar season is almost here and 'The Dark Knight Rises' is looking to get its hand on some of those gold trophies. Warner Bros. is mounting a major 'Dark Knight Rises' Oscar campaign for the film in most major categories. Find out who's in the running and who they'll likely be competing against.
Last November, 4-year-old Jayden Barber was diagnosed with a terminal case of myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS) leukemia. Jayden's dying wish was to meet Batman, so friends and family teamed up to have local actors pose as Batman, Wonder Woman, Spider-Man and Captain America and meet Jayden as he rode in a Batmobile and flashed the Bat signal.
But shortly after that event, Jayden got a call from the "real" Batman, Christian Bale, who flew Jayden and his entire family to Disneyland, where the two finally got to meet. And you'll never believe what happened next.
There are two things Christian Bale seems to look for when he considers joining a film. First, he likes to work with an established, acclaimed director who'll surely pull the absolute best out of him (see Christopher Nolan, David O. Russell, Terrence Malick, Michael Mann, Todd Haynes, Werner Herzog and, um, McG). Secondly, he'll only play the role if it's a relentlessly grim character in an impossibly grim film where no one smiles or laughs. Ever.
Well, it sounds like Bale is the perfect match for 'The Creed of Violence.'
As victims of last weekend's horrible shooting tragedy in Aurora, Co. try and recover from their terrifying experience, one actor has taken it upon himself to visit those currently receiving care at a local Denver hospital. Christian Bale flew out to Denver to visit those affected by the shocking shooting that occurred just a few days ago.
Yesterday marked the beginning of the end of 'The Dark Knight Rises,' as all the stars and crew behind the final Christopher Nolan-directed Batman trilogy came out to New York City yesterday for the premiere. And what better location to host the 'Dark Knight Rises' premiere than the so named real-life city of Gotham.
