As Hannibal fans this weekend (and billions of others before them) can attest, too long has the antiquated Nielsen ratings system given an incomplete picture of a show’s viewership, swaying networks to and fro of cancellation. We may finally have some progress however, as Nielsen will begin taking into account streaming data from the likes of Hulu, Netflix and beyond.
We know, we know. Star Wars Rebels Season 2 already premiered a sample of its second round by the stellar “Siege of Lothal,” but the real debut of new Star Wars Rebels has at last set its premiere. Lock down your hyperdrives for October, when the crew of the Ghost takes on the mantle of Star Wars Rebels once more for Season 2.
We don’t yet know how deeply the next Guardians of the Galaxy will delve into the history of its core five (save for Star-Lord’s pappy), while Disney XD’s upcoming animated series has taken care to introduce detailed origins glossed over by the films. Next up is Drax the Destroyer, whose history with Ronan the Accuser may have been more complicated than we realize.
Disney kept Star Wars Rebels out of Comic-Con 2015 and only had so much to offer at D23, but us New Yorkers are in for a treat come NYCC in October. Not only will New York Comic-Con screen the first two episodes of Star Wars Rebels Season 2, but so too have we intercepted the Empire’s panel plans.
