Those lucky folk at Star Wars Celebration Europe will get an early taste of Star Wars Rebels Season 3, but a chance to relive Season 2 won’t be too far behind. The second season of Disney XD’s animated prequel will hit Blu-ray and DVD in August, along with some exclusive new content.
It’ll be some time yet before Star Wars branches into any TV or movie properties concurrent with the Force Awakens timeline, but that won’t stop shows like LEGO Star Wars: The Freemaker Adventures from having fun with the past and present. Not only do some major classic Star Wars characters put in appearances for the new trailer, but so too does fan-favorite Maz Kanata.
The lead time of Star Wars Rebels had Season 3 well in production while we were busy freaking out at Ahsoka’s showdown with Darth Vader, and that lead will bear fruit as early as July. The first look at Star Wars Rebels Season 3 will arrive at Star Wars Celebration Europe, as lucky fans get to partake in the first two episodes.
As revealed in the video, Nicolas Cantu will play young Force-sensitive Rowan, joined by Glee alum Vanessa Lengies as eldest sister Kordi, and current Arrow star Eugene Byrd as ace pilot brother Zander. Lucasfilm sound editor (and General Grievous’ actual voice) will play the family’s reprogrammed battle droid R0-GR.
We’ve already seen one major tie to the extended Star Wars universe resurfacing in this week’s coming Star Wars Rebels Season 2 finale, and a new clip goes a bit back to the future.
