'Dominion' Season 2: Syfy Renews for 2015, Along With 'Defiance' for Season 3

We haven't kept a very close eye on Syfy's angelic 'Legion' TV sequel 'Dominion' since its summer premiere, nor ongoing alien drama 'Defiance,' but fans of either are in for some good news. Not only will 'Dominion' return in 2015 for a second season, but so too will 'Defiance' launch a third run next year.

Ever since Syfy first announced that it would follow up 2010 angel thriller 'Legion' with a sequel TV series 'Dominion,' we've been anxious to check out the post-apocalyptic heaven-scape. Last week's trailer gave us our clearest look yet at the ongoing angel-human conflict, but the full poster for Syfy's Dominion' might be the most iconic imagery yet.

Amid all the many network upfront presentations of the week, today saw NBC and Universal holding their cable expo to promote the likes of Syfy and USA. Among the new series glimpsed, 'Legion' TV sequel drama 'Dominion' finally got its first full angelic trailer, while the network also offered a glimpse at 'Battlestar Galactica' vet Tricia Helfer's creepy new retro sci-fi drama 'Ascension.'

Syfy has been on a kick of late with cannibalizing cult sci-fi films for TV options, the latest of which, 'Dominion,' derives from 2010 angel thriller 'Legion.' We saw a few short promos of the new sequel series drama before, but now the war has officially erupted anew in the full 'Dominion' trailer and photo set, chock full of angels, bullets and good old-fashioned scripture (not really).

A few weeks ago we caught our first look at Syfy's forthcoming 'Legion' TV series 'Dominion' with a promotional trailer and release date, though the promo spot had relatively little to show in the way of characters. That all changes with the first promotional still from the series, featuring leading man Christopher Egan, 'LOST''s Alan Dale, and 'Buffy''s Anthony Stewart Head!

We've known for some time that Syfy would look to adapt the stylistic apocalypse thriller 'Legion' with a sequel TV series 'Dominion,' though we weren't sure if the small screen could capture the same stylistic flair. Now, the first footage of Syfy's new summer 2014 series has arrived, and it seems heaven has brought hell with it!

Well, we could have seen that coming. A few scant weeks after Syfy's '12 Monkeys' TV pilot had begun casting, so too has the cable network's other high-profile sci-fi adaptation series 'Dominion' been greenlit for a full series. The new incarnation draws from the events of Paul Bettany angel thriller 'Legion,' but what will the TV series chronicle?
