'Dumb and Dumber 2' was definitely happening. And then it was off. But then Jim Carrey was back and it was back on again. And now, according to director Peter Farrelly, it's "100% guaranteed that it's a possibility." They're in talks with Warner Bros. for the sequel - titled 'Dumb and Dumber To' - and want Channing Tatum and Emma Stone to join Carrey and Jeff Daniels.
We've been waiting patiently for a proper follow-up to 1994's 'Dumb and Dumber' for, well, almost 20 years now. (Let's not count that unfortunate prequel.) One of those projects that seems to have life for a moment once every two years, it has never felt like it was going to truly come together. But the stars appear to be aligning for our dopey friends, as writer-directors Peter and Bobby Farrelly have revealed the title of the new 'Dumb and Dumber' installment.
'Dumb and Dumber 2' may or may not ever happen - remember when Jim Carrey said he was out? - but the Farrelly Brothers are still talking as if it might and recently revealed their plans for the sequel.
It wasn't long ago that Jim Carrey exited 'Dumb and Dumber 2' with co-star Jeff Daniels naturally trailing right behind him. But don't give up hope just yet, guys. Looks like Daniels thinks the Farrelly brothers will get it together by next summer, and Jim Carrey still wants to do it, and unicorns are giving birth to kittens under waterfalls made of fro-yo.
Though it's been a possibility ever since 'Dumb and Dumber' became one of the surprise hits of 1994, it appears that a 'Dumb and Dumber 2' with the original cast and crew - which the Farrelly brothers said was a go project a couple months back - has fallen apart as Jim Carrey pulled out.
