A new Friday the 13th sequel has been in the works for a long while now with The Signal director David Bruckner attached to direct. We only recently began to hear more about the upcoming project via producer Brad Fuller, who’s been assuring fans that yes, this sequel is definitely, finally happening. To make us a little optimistic about the new installment, Hannibal writer Nick Antosca has been hired to pen the screenplay.

A Friday the 13th sequel has been in development ever since Platinum Dunes’ remake hit theaters in 2009. After Paramount dated and rescheduled (and rescheduled) the upcoming sequel, we finally appear to have a new Friday the 13th film hitting theaters in 2016 — the thing is, we haven’t heard much about it. Platinum Dunes producer Brad Fuller has revealed new details today — on Friday the 13th, naturally — about the upcoming sequel, why it’s taken so long and what we might expect from the project.

'Rings' Gets a Release Date, 'Paranormal Activity' Delayed
In a move that should come as a surprise to absolutely no one, Paramount has delayed the release of ‘Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension’ yet again. Meanwhile, the studio is also mixing up their horror schedule a bit, announcing an official release date for ‘The Ring’ reboot, ‘Rings,’ and moving up the release of their new ‘Friday the 13th’ installment. Given that the shifting of ‘Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension’ has become something of a running joke, we wouldn’t be shocked if the date changes at least a few more times before this thing finally hits theaters—if it ever does.

So, a seemingly terrible move like this is totally in the spirit of this long-running series, which practically rebooted itself with every other entry

Earlier this summer, it was announced that the 'Friday the 13th' franchise would be returning to Paramount Pictures, its home throughout the original run of movies. Many classic horror fans hoped this would be a good thing as the franchise left the hands of producer Michael Bay (who released a reboot at Warner Bros.) and would return to its home. But, it looks like the studio behind 'Paranormal Ac

While this week has a been especially fruitful for movie series getting the TV treatment, so much so that we had to wonder if TV reboots have become the new movie remake, it seems 'Friday the 13th' has been added to the pile. This is no Friday the 13th prank (do they have those?), it seems Jason may get the 'Smallville' treatment with his very own origins TV series titled 'Friday the 13th: Crystal

The other day we heard that Paramount Pictures is now back in the Jason Voorhees business, taking the rights to 'Friday the 13th' back from Warner Bros. and preparing a sequel to the 2009 remake. Today, we learn that the producers of that remake, Michael Bay and his Platinum Dunes production company, are back in the saddle as well.
