About the only aspect agreed upon of Gotham Season 1 proved its embrace of camp villainy, and Season 2 looks to be leaning even further into its “Rise of the Villains.” Forget any of our major heroes, the second Gotham Season 2 clip once again spotlights the city’s worst, and the apparent Joker among them.

Love it or hate it, FOX’s Gotham covered quite a bit of ground across its (extended) first season, and it stands to reason fan(s) might need a refresher course before Season 2's “Rise of the Villains.” FOX has you covered, so catch up on the villains’ rise in Season 1 with a new video, before they … you know, keep rising in Season 2.

Yesterday’s first clip of Gotham Season 2 had things looking more or less the same, despite what series star Ben McKenzie says about an improved approach, though the full photo set from the premiere bring with them an intriguing new figure. Are citizens of Gotham finally suiting up, costume, cape and all?

As Gotham Season 2's promotion ramps up, focus continually aims at the colorful villains emerging throughout the city, rather than young Bruce Wayne’s cowled future. Gotham star Ben McKenzie recently promised the second season to improve upon muddled reception of the first, but the latest trailer seems to be clowning around. There’s more Joker camp than ever in a new “Rise of the Villains” spot, and we even get a taste of (sigh) Barbara’s arc to boot.

Gotham Season 2 has debuted a few teasers and posters by now, with series star Ben McKenzie swearing up and down this year won’t make the same ‘mistake’ of last year, but does Season 2 look any different by its first photo? Former Commish and Freak Show vet Michael Chiklis arrives in Gotham by its first official promo shot, staring down the corrupt GCPD.

FOX’s Gotham clearly made enough Bat-fans happy to justify an extended first season order, as well as the Season 2 renewal, though many (like us) derided the show’s take on the Dark Knight’s early days. Series lead Ben McKenzie apparently agrees, calling Season 1 a “mistake,” and assuring this year will be “exactly what the fans want to see.”
