‘10 Cloverfield Lane’s Dan Trachtenberg Eyed to Helm Harry Houdini Movie

10 Cloverfield Lane, the not-so-secret Cloverfield sequel that ended up being a welcome surprise at the theater earlier this year, seems to have put director Dan Trachtenberg on the map. He recently directed one of the episodes of Black Mirror’s third season, “Playtest,” about a man who volunteers to test a horror video game that reads your mind in order to figure out how best to scare you. Now, he’s in talks to helm Legendary’s long-in-development movie about the one and only Harry Houdini.

Ryan Gosling is taking lots of meetings this week, and in the war between Marvel and DC, a new battle has emerged: the battle over Ryan Gosling's soul. Gosling is being considered for not only the role of 'Doctor Strange,' but also for a part in DC's 'Suicide Squad' film, which, as it was announced earlier today, is being directed by David Ayer. And buried somewhere else in all this news: Gosling might also play Houdini.

For his next trick, Johnny Depp will play famed magician Harry Houdini. Continuing his tradition of wearing silly hats, the actor is in negotiations to star in 'The Secret Life of Houdini: The Making of America's First Superhero' (now that's a title), which is said to be in the vein of an 'Indiana Jones' story.

After earlier this week renewing its first original scripted series 'Vikings' for a second season, coupled with 'The Bible's' major success, History has conjured up its next big miniseries to market. The History Channel has officially announced development on 'Houdini' (tentative title), an account of the world-famous magician Harry Houdini with Adrien Brody in the leading role.
