Jennifer Lawrence

Jennifer Lawrence is one of the most popular movie stars in the world. Her big break was three seasons on TBS’ ‘The Bill Engvall Show,’ but she first garnered attention as a serious actress in the indie drama ‘Winter’s Bone’ from 2010. The film netted Lawrence her first Oscar nomination; two years later she received another nomination and her first Academy Award for her work in David O. Russell’s ‘Silver Linings Playbook’ (a third nomination followed the next year for ‘American Hustle’). Her most famous roles though are in a pair of major Hollywood franchises: ‘X-Men,’ where she is the young version of the shapeshifting Mystique, and, of course, ‘The Hunger Games,’ where she plays reality star and revolutionary leader Katniss Everdeen.

‘The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1’ Review
‘The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1’ is a movie comprised almost entirely of deleted scenes. As it says right in the title, this isn’t the final chapter of ‘The Hunger Games’ series; it’s just the first half of the final chapter, and that’s exactly what it feels like. It’s table setting for a meal that won’t be served until next November. ‘Mockingjay - Part 1’ is good-looking, well-acted, and utterly inessential.

This week, the third ‘Hunger Games’ movie, which follows the first part of the third book, will be released into theaters. It is called ‘The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1,’ which is a lot of words. But, here we are. Already, ‘The Hunger Games’ faithful are lined up to see what’s next in store for Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence), who we last saw being rescued by rebellion forces in the cli

Francis Lawrence, the director of three out of the four ‘Hunger Games’ movies, gets emotional when the subject of Philip Seymour Hoffman is discussed. It’s not so much grief at this point (it’s been over nine months since the actor’s death), but it’s more from a sense of duty...

‘SNL’ Scorecard: Woody Harrelson Wins the Quarter Quell
Woody Harrelson’s third time as host of ‘SNL’–and his first since way back in 1992 (he hosted just a few weeks after Jason Priestly)–was actually pretty great. Anticipation for an ‘SNL’ host is a fickle beast. Now, one might circle the calendar when he or she sees, say, Chris Rock’s name show up as host, then that show winds up being a bust. I suspect that not a lot of people were thinking, Oh, man, Woody Harrelson is hosting ‘SNL’! I need to cancel all of my plans because that will be one I can’t miss. Then Harrelson goes out and is everything we want out of a host: funny, up for anything, looks like he’s having fun, willing to sing a song about apples that is still stuck in my head. Anyway, he hosted the best show of the season so far and here is your ‘SNL’ Scorecard.

When Woody Harrelson was revealed to be hosting ‘SNL’ just a few days before the new ‘Hunger Games’ movie was set to open in theaters, it was obvious that the massively popular franchise would, somehow, figure into at least one sketch. Surprisingly, that ended up being the opening monologue, which featured Harrelson performing his own version of Taylor Swift's ‘1989.’ With a little help from some friends.

'The Hunger Games: Mockingjay' Releases Awesome Art Poster
The latest poster for ‘The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1’ is probably the coolest little bit of imagery we've seen for the film since much, much earlier in the marketing. We're thinking way back to those first all-white teasers with President Snow, Peeta, and Joanna, which were very off-putting and weird. There was also that exceedingly stylish poster campaign featuring heroes of the districts, which was unsettling in all its glossiness. Most of the posters and trailers we've seen since have been what we'd expect from a promotional campaign, so it's always nice to see something a little different.

So, you think it's all fun and games being a movie star and filming the biggest movie of the year? Tell that to Jennifer Lawrence, the star of the 'Hunger Games' franchise who, while filming one of the 'Catching Fire' Cornucopia scenes, had a powerful water jet blast her right in the ear that left her partially deaf. All for your entertainment! That's just one of the little known bits of trivia packed into the latest episode of You Think You Know Movies, which focuses on the biggest film of 2013, 'The Hunger Games: Catching Fire'.

Here is a brief list of things that happened during Jennifer Lawrence's appearance on 'The Late Show' last night: she sang with host David Letterman, the duo discussed tummy troubles, they chatted about bowling, they both totally biffed introducing a clip, Lawrence begged Letterman to not retire, they walked out during a live taping, and then Lawrence took over the entire show.

While you'd think 'X-Men: Apocalypse' would focus the majority of its attention on its titular character, Fox and director have some different ideas. When you've got two of the hottest stars in Hollywood contractually obligated to star in your movie, you make them the center of the action. And, that's what is reportedly happening with the 'X-Men: Apocalypse' script, which is being developed around Michael Fassbender and Jennifer Lawrence and the burgeoning romance between Magneto and Mystique.

‘Joy’ Casts Robert De Niro Alongside Jennifer Lawrence For That ‘Silver Linings Playbook’ Magic
Things are looking pretty good for 'American Hustle' director David O. Russell, who has spent the past five years reinventing himself. The man who was once known more for being a pain in the ass on the set of 'I Heart Huckabees' and getting in a fistfight with George Clooney while shooting 'Three Kings' has emerged as the modern master of the crowd-pleaser, crafting straightforward entertainments that make big bucks at the box office and get a bunch of Oscar attention. That's the kind of combination that keeps you making movies and convinces every actor in Hollywood to get in line to work with you. And that's probably why Robert De Niro is in talks to join the cast of 'Joy,' which will be his third collaboration with Russell in three years.
