Denis Leary Returns to FX for 'Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll' Comedy Pilot, Will Write and Star

Just three years after Denis Leary's under-appreciated FX dramedy 'Rescue Me' put out its last fire, the legendary comic is returning to the network for a new half-hour series. Leary will both write and star in the pilot for a New York-set musician comedy 'Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll,' set to feature original music and occasional guest appearances by real-life rock stars as well.

Among the many new pilots to debut this fall, 'SNL' vet Andy Samberg's 'Parks and Recreation'-style cop comedy 'Brooklyn Nine-Nine' has attracted the most comedy heat by far. The new single camera series from 'Parks' producers Michael Schur and Dan Goor has just added another famous po-po to its ranks, tasking '30 Rock,' 'Law & Order: SVU' and 'Rescue Me' vet Dean Winters to its ranks, but will he still he the good guy?

'Smash' Season 2 Starts A Fire Between Debra Messing and 'Rescue Me' Vet

Things might get pretty cold in New York City by the time 'Smash' season 2 raises its curtains, but things are only heating up for Debra Messing's Julia.  Earlier, we learned that actor Brian D'Arcy (ulia's husband Frank)  had officially departed the series, but now a former 'Rescue Me' star will start a fire in her heart.  How long will this one stick around, and will we hear him flex those pipes?
