Though we already have the 2013 Golden Globes winners and even the nominees for the upcoming 2013 Oscars, there's still the matter of the ScreenCrush Awards. For the past month or so, you all, the most die-hard fans of movies and TV, have been voting on the best movies, TV shows, trailers, posters and the like from the past year, and now that the polls are closed, we have those results!
From Nicki Minaj's reality show, to her fight with fellow 'American Idol' judge Mariah Carey, to Lindsay Lohan's latest desperate scuffle with the law, we've been bombarded by more than enough WTF moments to keep us talking for a while. But when it comes to which moment/person/event from the past year (movie and/or TV-related, of course) was the most ridiculous, Honey Boo Boo seemed like the worst influence by far.
We were so impressed with the visuals coming from films like Ang Lee's 'Life of Pi,' Joss Whedon's 'The Avengers' (which was nominated for an Oscar, if you haven't heard) and The Wachowski's 'Cloud Atlas.' Even films we thought were horrible, like 'Snow White and the Huntsman,' painting imaginative portraits. So we had to see what film our readers thought provided the biggest payoff in terms of visual effects, and, in fact, Peter Jackson's 'The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey' was the one that blew them all away.
Movie and TV voted for the best in entertainment of the past year in the 2012 ScreenCrush Awards, and although it seemed like 'The Dark Knight Rises' beat its rival superhero movie 'The Avengers' in just about every category, Joss Whedon's team finally came out on top when it came to the most epic fight scenes.
Let's think of all the horrible movies that audiences were subjected to this past year. Titles like 'John Carter,' 'Battleship' and 'Snow White and the Huntsman' probably come to mind, right? Well, as part of our 2012 ScreenCrush Awards, we asked our readers to vote for the Worst Movie of the 2012, and one name emerged out of the cinematic muck -- 'Abraham Lincoln.'
There's so much spectacular cosplay from Comic-Con to Dragon-Con and the like, but Nicole Marie Jean wowed us early on with her unique interpretation of a female Bane -- and our readers were as equally wowed!
'The Big Bang Theory' keeps on rising in the ratings with nearly every new episode, and now as the CBS show continues on with its sixth season, its fans are growing in number as well. Even when going up against popular sitcoms and series like 'The Office,' '30 Rock' and 'Community,' as was the case in the voting-based 2012 ScreenCrush Awards, 'The Big Bang Theory' still comes out on top as the Funniest TV Show of 2012.
2012 was a huge year trailer-wise for some of the most hyped-up films, like 'Star Trek Into Darkness,' 'The Great Gatsby,' 'Pacific Rim' and 'The Lone Ranger.' Though it turns out that movie fans are still on the superhero movie streak as they've honored 'Iron Man 3' with having the Best Movie Trailer of 2012.
'The Dark Knight Rises' was by far one of the summer's main highlights, but even though it wasn't nominated for a Golden Globe or an Academy Award this year, movie fans have named it the Best Movie of 2012.
Forget about the Golden Globes and the Oscars for one second, and let's focus instead on what the fans think about the best movies and TV shows of 2012. We at ScreenCrush asked you, our loyal movie- and TV-obsessed readers, to start voting on your picks for the best 2012 had to offer, and so far we've got some tid bits to report -- 'The Dark Knight Rises' is leading 'The Avengers' to take home the title of Best Movie, while 'Sons of Anarchy' is trending to win Best TV Series over 'The Walking Dead'!
Unhappy with those wins? Don't worry because this is a preview. There's still a week left in the polls and your votes can change the tide.
