As Sherlock Holmes continues his rise back into pop culture prominence, through everything from a potential threequel to the Guy Ritchie/Robert Downey Jr. movies, and BBC's hotly anticipated third series of 'Sherlock,' we've turned to CBS' own modern adaptation 'Elementary' for our deduction fix. by Kevin Fitzpatrick November 26, 2012 @ 2:30 PM
We sure hope mystery fans have been enjoying the inaugural season of CBS' 'Elementary,' because that might be the only 'Sherlock' fix they have for awhile. While British series typically take longer to produce and air, particularly those with such prolific stars as Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman, new reports suggest that a third series of cult favorite 'Sherlock' may not air until late 2013, or even 2014 at the latest. What can we deduce is the cause of such a dastardly wait?

As candid as we've come to expect 'Sherlock' and eventual 'Star Trek 2' star Benedict Cumberbatch to be, it seems the popular UK thesp is retracing his steps in an effort to clear up his words.  Recently, a number of outlets picked up Cumberbatch's comments toward friend and fellow actor Jonny Lee Miller over his decision to move forward with CBS' own modern-day Sherlock Holmes adaptation 'Elementary,' but is it apology or accusation?

It happens just about every pilot season that one series winds up being compared to another for their apparent similarities.  Just about every network sci-fi drama somehow gets measured up to be 'The Next 'LOST,'" and 'Smash' drew heavy 'Glee' comparisons at first, though very rarely a new pilot deals with the very same property as an existing show!
So with all the flack modern Sherlock Holmes adaptation 'Elementary' has gotten from the existing 'Sherlock,' what does 'Elementary' lead Jonny Lee Miller have to say?

It happens all the time in America, but that doesn't mean the British have to be happy about it.  A number of UK-originating series have made their way across the pond to be adapted for American TV, some more successfully than others, and now 'Sherlock' creator Steven Moffat has a bone to pick.
