We’re admittedly intrigued to see what Sony comes up with for its first PlayStation original TV series, adapting Brian Michael Bendis’ revered superhero comic Powers. We’ve seen the trailer and a few photos, but the latest eight-minute preview goes behind-the-scenes to deliver our most comprehensive look at the world of Powers before its March 10 debut.

We always suspected this day would come; our Supermovies Infographic is actually shrinking. The announcement of a new deal between Sony and Marvel over the Spider-Man movies, which sees Spider-Man integrated into the Marvel Cinematic Universe but still under Sony's control, has not only bumped a lot of release dates back to avoid a Marvel/Sony showdown, but has also pushed at least a couple of films off the chart completely.

Sony PlayStation’s forthcoming entry into the original content arms race, ‘Powers’ has flexed plenty of footage and photos of its impending premiere, but with little sense of how the Brian Michael Bendis superhero drama would be rolled out. Now, Sony has revealed a March start date for the Sharlto Copley-starring ‘Powers,’ including its release schedule and a brand-new poster.

Even before Sony was hacked and we got a look at their e-mails regarding Spider-Man, we knew that the company was scrambling to figure out what to do with the web-slinging hero. After talks with Marvel for a potential crossover with the character fizzled, it seemed as though Sony was focusing their energies on Spidey spin-offs and putting plans for ‘Amazing Spider-Man 3' on hold, perhaps indefinitely. But according to a new casting call, it looks like Sony might be moving ahead with the third installment in the underwhelming franchise after all.

Years ago, following the release of the first BioShock video game, ‘The Lone Ranger’ director Gore Verbinski was hired to helm a film adaptation of the wildly popular and incredibly dark property for Universal. After some struggles with the studio over the rating and financing, the adaptation sunk back into the depths of development purgatory, where it’s remained ever since. If you ever wanted to know what Verbinski’s take might have looked like, some unused concept art has revealed an adaptation that appears to be very faithful to its source material—based on looks alone, anyway.

Did you rent ‘The Interview’ online over the Christmas weekend? You did? I hope you were not assailed by nefarious hackers! Change all your passwords, just to be safe. Regardless, your purchase or rental of ‘The Interview,’ Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg’s ultra-controversial poop-joke-laden comedy about the attempted assassination of North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un (and poop jokes), helped make the film the biggest digital release in the history of Sony Pictures. After many of the country’s major theater chains declined to screen the film in the wake of threats of violence (by those same nefarious hackers), Sony canceled ‘The Interview’’s release outright. But then, early on Christmas Eve, they did an about-face, and made the film available on Google Play, YouTube, and Xbox Live. (It’s since been added to Apple’s iTunes Store as well.)

Earlier today it was announced that Sony will release ‘The Interview’ in select theaters and on VOD this Christmas Day after all. Following the massive hacker attack on the company and subsequent terrorist threats from the group known as Guardians of Peace, Sony had no choice but to cancel the film’s release after major theater chains decided not to show the film. In a wonderful turn of events, following a petition from Art House Convergence, which was signed by many independent exhibitors, Sony is moving forward with the release. We have the full list of theaters that will screen the film this Thursday.

Full details are still forthcoming, but it looks like ‘The Interview’—Seth Rogen’s ultra-controversial comedy about an American assassination attempt on North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un—will open on Christmas after all. Sony initially cancelled their planned December 25 release after hackers threatened theaters that dared to show ‘The Interview’ with terrorist attacks, and many of the biggest exhibitor chains in the country (including Regal and AMC) subsequently decided not to run the film.

‘The Interview’ has quickly become a huge point of interest for the American public, with the controversy surrounding it and the Sony hacker attack driving up even more interest in the film. Yesterday, we reported that Sony has removed the social media pages for ‘The Interview’ and deleted all clips from YouTube, while North Korea officially denied any involvement in the attack and offered to work with the U.S. government to find the culprits (oh, and they threatened us, too). And while Sony has waffled on whether or not they plan to release the film, the latest update suggests we’ll see it pretty soon.

We’ve been watching the drama surrounding ‘The Interview’ unfold for weeks now, and today brings yet another update to this bizarre and disappointing series of events. Following messages from the hacker terrorist group thanking Sony for canceling the release of the film and instructing them to remove all traces of the film’s existence from the Internet, Sony appears to have begun that process. The studio has now deleted its accounts for ‘The Interview’ on Facebook and Twitter, and removed the promo and clips from the official YouTube page.
