All Hallows’ Eve us almost upon us, and whatever dead may rise, Starz’s Ash Vs. Evil Dead has more than Deadites rising to the occasion. Bruce Campbell’s aging lothario returns in our first four-minute clip from the new Sam Raimi series, and dear Ash hasn’t lost a step before taking on the Evil Dead.

For as much as Starz’s Ash Vs. Evil Dead intends to reward fans of Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell’s Evil Dead trilogy, new viewers will undoubtedly need some jumping off point. Thankfully, Starz knows just how to conjure nostalgia and education alike, marathoning all three Evil Dead movies to lead into a Halloween sneak peek of Ash Vs. Evil Dead.

Groovy Bruce isn’t going to let fall premiere week have all the fun, but gladly put his ego aside to introduce the rest of Ash Vs. Evil Dead. The Starz scream-fest has released a new video introducing Ash’s sidekicks with plenty of new footage, and a touch of Evil to come, Dead and otherwise.

Starz’s Ash Vs. Evil Dead won’t officially get the Deadite party rolling until Halloween, but those in attendance of New York Comic-Con 2015 will get a chance to meet the man himself, and catch exclusive previews of of Ash’s return. Starz has set the full NYCC panel plans, along with an autograph session and a new photo.

We’ll never stop mourning the absence of future Hannibal (at least until that mini-series finally gets greenlit), but some good finally seems to have come of its end. Apart from all the awesome trailers we’ve seen to date, Ash Vs. Evil Dead fans might worry over the half-hour episodic format, compared with the character’s cinematic history. And while half an hour might seem far too little to spend with Ash each week, Starz’s first nine episode synopses paint a much clearer portrait of how Ash Vs. Evil Dead plans to dole out its brand of horror.

As Hannibal fans this weekend (and billions of others before them) can attest, too long has the antiquated Nielsen ratings system given an incomplete picture of a show’s viewership, swaying networks to and fro of cancellation. We may finally have some progress however, as Nielsen will begin taking into account streaming data from the likes of Hulu, Netflix and beyond.
