The 'Star Trek' franchise has become a curious fish, what with the entirety of its 5-series canon being rebooted by J.J. Whereas just hours ago, Syfy announced that it had at least five new reality series greenlit for production now at the 2012 Upfront event they've announced their largest development slate to date, with a whopping twenty-eight new series.  But of the order, how many of them will actually make it to air?

Sunrise, sunset.  Whereas earlier today the bad-ass WonderCon footage and trailer of 'Battlestar Galactica' prequel "Blood & Chrome' exploded across the internet, fueling speculation that viewers would once again enjoy a regular series, now Syfy has chimed in on the definitive plans for the project.  It's not frakkin' good.

Prequels are always a tricky notion, particularly when main stories left things in such a definitive place that it's hard to imagine mining anything worthwhile from a story whose endpoint you know.  But where 'Battlestar Galactica' prequel 'Caprica' might have failed, 'Blood & Chrome' looks to be taking things in a whole new frakkin' direction.
