As we inch closer to the debut of the 'Amazing Spider-Man 2' trailer, Sony Pictures and one intrepid tweeter revealed the sequel's first poster, which features new looks at the film's villains. Among the new trio of baddies are Jamie Foxx as Electro, Paul Giamatti as a mechanical Rhino and ... who is that catching some air as the Green Goblin? Take a closer look to find out.
The Amazing Spider-Man
When director Marc Webb took control of the 'Spider-Man' franchise with 'The Amazing Spider-Man,' he must have faced a huge decision: should he stick with a costume similar to the one worn by Tobey Maguire or go in a completely different direction. The final design, while different in the details, was definitely in line with the character's traditional red and blue outfit. However, other options were weighed and some concept art from the film's development has made its way online, giving us a very different look at what could have been.
'The Amazing Spider-Man 2' is already chock full of baddies for the webslinger to face, including Paul Giamatti's Rhino and (the main event) Jamie Foxx's Electro. There was even talk that Colm Feore and Chris Cooper have bigger parts to play, but could there be yet another hidden villain Marc Webb and his team are just waiting to spring on us?
There's been a lot of Venom talk these last couple of days. We recently saw a cool short film focusing on the 'Spider-Man' villain, there was an update a few months ago on his rumored solo film, and just yesterday 'Amazing Spider-Man 2' screenwriters were giving props aplenty to the toothy character. Does all this Venom love mean we might be seeing him in 'The Amazing Spider-Man 3'? If so, would that be a good thing?
'The Amazing Spider-Man 2,' the sequel to director Marc Webb's first installment in the rebooted Spider-Man film series, has been busy at work filming in the Big Apple. Now, during Comic-Con 2013, Columbia Pictures and Sony brought out stars Andrew Garfield (Spider-Man, Peter Parker), Jamie Foxx (Electro, Max Dillon) and Dane DeHaan (Harry Osborn), producers Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach, and Webb himself for their panel presentation on Friday, Jul. 19 in Hall H.
As 'The Amazing Spider-Man 2' continues production, to hopefully reveal tons of goodies during Comic-Con 2013, a major cut was made to the cast -- Shailene Woodley's Mary Jane Watson was completely dropped from the second film. Though we, especially those familiar with the comic book storyline, already figured it out, the reason for this change has been revealed.
As 'The Amazing Spider-Man 2' crew is learning, the problem with shooting in the public eye are the paparazzi. Tons upon tons of set photos have already leaked out online, giving us first looks at Jamie Foxx's Electro, Emma Stone's Gwen Stacey and even Spidey's new suit. And now the action keeps coming.
Following director Marc Webb's unveiling of the first "official" photo of Paul Giamatti as the Rhino in 'The Amazing Spider-Man 2,' comes a full-body snapshot of the character wreaking havoc -- as the Rhino tends to do.
With all the snapshots from the set and promotional material already released for 'The Amazing Spider-Man 2,' chances are we'll get to see all there is before the film hits theaters on May 2, 2014. Just the other day, Marc Webb gave us our first look at Jamie Foxx's Max Dillon, and prior to that we saw his transformation into the supervillain Electro. Now, even more behind-the-scenes photos have surfaced. Take a look!
