'The Hobbit' doesn't hit theaters until December 14th but if you're of the lot that likes to be prepared, we've got good news for you. This week, you can actually buy your tickets and get yourself all set for 'The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey' plus the three films in the original 'Lord of the Rings' trilogy re-release (in case you need to bone up on your Tolkien).
'The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey,' the first film in Peter Jackson's 'Hobbit' trilogy, is hitting theaters in just a month and a half now, and that means it's time for more promotional goodies to start popping out, including the official track list for 'The Hobbit' soundtrack. Back in the summer when Warner Bros. released the 'Dark Knight Rises' soundtrack list, it gave us some hints at what we could expect to see in the film. So, with the one for 'An Unexpected Journey' now available, what does it reveal about Bilbo and his band of merry dwarfs?
In J.R.R. Tolkien's 'The Hobbit,' Bolg is one of the villainous creatures to inhabit Middle Earth, and wreak havok on Bilbo and his comrades. He's said to be the mightiest of the Orc Chieftains, so it only makes sense for Peter Jackson's team, in the movie adaptation, to model this guy after one of the most terrifying cinema villains of all-time: 'The Exorcist' demon.
If you never once looked at a calendar, you'd still be able to tell when a movie was approaching its release date by seeing it TV spots were playing yet. Well, 'The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey' now has two, which means that the hotly anticipated film is right around the corner! You can find the first one over here and you can watch the second one below!
'The Hobbit' is coming! Slow down... it's coming in December, but you can check out this brand new TV spot right now, which brings us back to the world of the Shire and introduces us to a very unlikely hero named Bilbo Baggins.

We're finding out a lot about 'The Hobbit' movie this week, thanks to the latest issue of The Hollywood Reporter. For instance, did you know Ian McKellen almost turned down the role of Gandalf for the next three Middle Earth-based movies? While all that's interesting to learn, our favorite 'Hobbit' fact actually pertains to a seemingly unrelated actor -- funnyman Stephen Colbert.
THR missed this little tid bit: the 'Colbert Report' host is obsessed with Tolkien. So much so, in fact, that he got to visit the set of 'An Unexpected Journey' in New Zealand, where -- get this -- he may or may not have shot a cameo appearance for the movie trilogy!
'The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey' is due out December 14, but we now already know that there will be an extended edition of the film after it hits Blu-ray and DVD, set to be released sometime in third quarter of 2013.
Just as we suspected, the folks at Warner Bros. have another poster for 'The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.' However, rather than just giving you the new mind-blowing image to drool over, we decided to make things... a little more interesting. We've transformed the poster into a mix-matched puzzle and you have to rearrange it if you want to see the new poster.
The folks behind 'The Hobbit' haven't been holding back on the poster front. Back in the days of San Diego Comic-Con, director Peter Jackson released the first official poster and image of Gandalf in this 'Lord of the Rings' prequel trilogy, and since there have been a couple more -- one featuring the young Bilbo and the other highlighting his dwarven companions.
Too bad none of them really gave any clue as to what to expect from the upcoming 'Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey,' aside from that first scrolling banner that showcased 10 scenes from the flick, of course. Now, Warner Bros. has once again come up short with the reveals with its new 'Hobbit' scrolling banner featuring the entire group.
Since the release of the second 'Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey' trailer hit the airwaves during Tolkien Week, Peter Jackson and his crew at Warner Bros. have been light on the promotional material for the upcoming book-adapted flick. The director recently gave us a look at one of the new 'Hobbit' posters, which featured Bilbo holding his trusty "Sting" sword, but new images or sneaks at the film were scarce.
But now with the latest poster, some other characters from the highly anticipated December movie get their time in the spotlight.
