Following its moderate first season reception, The Leftovers finally gave up its HBO vanishing act and gave us a first Season 2 teaser, with a haunting new mystery. Now, the network has officially set the Garvey family’s off-book return for October 2015, with a new synopsis that reveals our Season 2 story and cast.

HBO’s rapturous Damon Lindelof drama The Leftovers made quite an impression last summer, though with its first season burning through book material of Tom Perotta’s 2011 novel, we knew Season 2 to be breaching new territory. That now proves surprisingly literal, as The Leftovers Season 2 will undergo something of a reboot in moving production to Austin, Texas.

HBO surprised us all a few months ago with the revelation that cordcutters might finally have a solution, as the pay-cable network announced plans for an independent online streaming service in 2015. Now, an internal memo suggests that the new service will arrive with ‘Game of Thrones’ season 5 in April, also revealing some surprising prospects for the future of HBO GO.
