South Park has put Stan, Kyle, Kenny and Cartman through the wringer for almost 20 years of pop culture punishment, but did you know the show originated as one of the world’s first viral videos? Or that the first official episode took three months to animate by hand? Oh my god, we killed the 22nd episode of ‘You Think You Know TV?,’ straight from the bastards at South Park!

Like SNL, too much hilarity has cycled through the news in the last few months alone, not to have South Park back in our lives. Thankfully, that long national nightmare is over, as in addition to the recent renewals, South Park has officially set a September return date to Comedy Central.

South Park will celebrate its 20th anniversary next year, which is today’s reminder that you’re old and have been watching crudely animated children swear at each other for nearly two decades now. The venerable series, which made Comedy Central a serious player and gave popular culture itself a mean (but satiric!) kick in the butt, still isn’t showing signs of slowing down. As long as the world makes them angry enough to make fun of it, series creators Trek Parker and Matt Stone are going to be making South Park. And their network can’t help but enable them — they’ve renewed the show through 2019.

However infrequently South Park arrives each year, many begin to wonder how much longer the talents of Trey Parker and Matt Stone will keep the series in play at Comedy Central. We’ve certainly been through some reassurance before, but will the 20th season in 2016 mark the official end? Says Parker, “They have to f—ing cancel us, goddammit!”

April Fools’ Day is an occasion marked by silliness. Many websites choose to celebrate by tricking their readers with goofy pranks. But for every one of these hoaxes that’s funny, there are ten more that are terrible (plus our budget would not allow us to turn the site into ScreenFlush, the #1 place on the Internet dedicated to movie toilets, for a single day). So instead, let’s honor some humor professionals; the men and women who’ve made the best comedies of the last 25 years.

With all the Comic-Con 2014 excitement swirling about, it can be difficult to remember that life will go on beyond July, and summer certainly holds more of our favorite TV premieres to come. Comedy Central's long-running 'South Park' has always seemed few and far between with its airing, but at long last, the 18th season for Stan, Kyle, Kenny, Cartman and the rest of the town has a premiere date!

‘Beyond the Brick: A LEGO Brickumentary' Review: Everything Is...Pretty Okay

EDIT

Yes, it’s a little odd that another LEGO movie is coming out so quickly after the release of, well, ‘The LEGO Movie’ – that also features an animated LEGO mini-fig voiced by a well-known celebrity. In this case, it’s Jason Bateman (as opposed to Chris Pratt) and this is a documentary (or, as they are calling it, a “brickumentary”), not a narrative feature.
‘Beyond the Brick: A LEGO Brickumentary’ (which premiered this week at the Tribeca Film Festival) is a sort of companion piece, as opposed to direct competitor, to the aforementioned ‘The LEGO Movie’ – especially considering that ‘The LEGO Movie’ is mentioned quite a few times over the course of this film and we even see the shooting of a particular scene. (Funny, if you don’t want to be spoiled on how ‘The LEGO Movie’ ends, you probably should avoid ‘Beyond the Brick.’) Also, it’s endlessly fascinating.

'South Park' has given fans a few causes for alarm in recent years, with series creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker cutting episode orders per season and individual episodes seemingly foretelling an imminent end to the series, but its latest scare proves less than electrifying. October 16 episode "Goth Kids 3: Dawn of the Posers" has been pushed back a week, with a repeat to air in its place, following an unexpected power outage at South Park Studios.
