FX's Cold War drama 'The Americans' is less than halfway through its inagural season, but already the buzzworthy hit has begun making plans for season 2. Following earlier news of 'The Americans' second season renewal, FX has announced that recurring guest Susan Misner will join the series full-time as a regular for season 2, but will 'The Americans' be able to keep undercover that long?

'The Americans' nearly threw a big twist into the narrative only six episodes in with "Trust Me," but thankfully the show's season 2 plans are a bit more concrete than exposing its titular Russian spies. New reports reveal that recurring star Susan Misner has been upped to a full series regular for season 2, having largely kept to the background as Stan Beeman (Noah Emmerich)'s wife Sandra.

Set in 1981 Washington DC, ‘The Americans’ follows Elizabeth Jennings (Russell), one half of a KGB-arranged marriage whose relationship with her husband Philip (Rhys) becomes increasingly tested by the Cold War’s escalation, the associations they maintain with a network of spies and informants, as well as their new FBI agent neighbor Stan Beeman (Noah Emmerich). Along the way, Elizabeth and Philip find their fake relationship growing more passionate and genuine on a daily basis. ‘The Americans’ also includes a hefty guest turn from ‘Justified’ Emmy winner Margo Martindale.

In only six episodes 'The Americans' has put Stan and Sandra's marriage under quite a test, so we're relieved to see the character won't be dismissed so easily going forward. What say you? Are you looking forward to the future of 'The Americans? Check out the latest preview below!
