When the RZA announced that he was going to direct his own kung fu movie, we knew that he was the right man for the job. The Wu-Tang Clan and many of his other projects would reference a number of classic samurai and kung fu films, and watching the red-band trailer for his 'The Man With The Iron Fists,' it's clear he knows his genre.

The film stars Rza alongside Russell Crowe, Lucy Liu, Jamie Chung, Rick Yune and Pam Grier, and it's hard to express in words what this film is other than bug-f---ing nuts. There's a guy who can turn into metal at will, a killer boomerang fan, Russell Crowe looking a bit like his character from 'The Quick and the Dead' (on top of it being, you know, Academy award winner Russell Crowe), killer concubines, and a soundtrack that relies heavily on hip-hop.

And we're in. Oh, we're in. The film was written by Eli Roth and RZA, and it looks like they locked themselves in a room for a couple of weeks watching Shaw brothers movies, 'Master of the Flying Guillotine' and a number of other classic kung fu films, and then went to town. Hopefully the movie, which we expect to see later this year, is as entertaining as the trailer.
