‘Thor 2′ Extended TV Spot Spouts “The Planets Align” Talk, Plus New Photos
Our latest look at 'Thor 2,' coming from an extended TV spot, showcases bits of new footage while finally explaining why its villain of 'The Dark World' choosing this time to attack the universe. So sit back and relax, it's prophecy story time!
Stop us if you've heard this one. "Every 5,000 years the worlds align, allowing darkness to strike," says Chris Hemsworth's Thor amidst footage of Christopher Eccleston making dramatic arm gestures as the Dark Elf Malekith. By "worlds," we're assuming he's referring to the Nine Realms, which Marvel has promised to show more of in this sequel. However, Thor first has to deal with Malekith and his end-of-the-universe plans.
'Thor 2' reunites the god of thunder with Jane (Natalie Portman), his trickster brother Loki (Tom Hiddleston), his father Odin (Anthony Hopkins), gatekeeper Heimdall (Idris Elba), and Sif (Jaimie Alexander) and the Warriors Three to do battle against this new threat. In addition to the new extended footage, Marvel has released a batch of photos of the film and some behind-the-scenes action, the latter of which features director Alan Taylor.
