‘Thor 3′ Heading for Ragnarok? Chris Hemsworth Has Some Ideas for His Next Adventure

Post-’Thor 2,’ Chris Hemsworth‘s Marvel contract has him in place to tackle ‘The Avengers 2,’ ‘The Avengers 3′ and, should Marvel sign off on it, ‘Thor 3.’ So, after he faces the Dark Elves of ‘The Dark World’ and Ultron himself, what new threat could menace him and his Asgardian brethren in a potential third standalone installment? The actor has some ideas for where the story should go, and it could be one to end it all.

Speaking with ScreenRant during the ‘Thor 2′ press junket in the UK, Hemsworth teased an apocalyptic scenario from the comics (Ragnarok, most likely) that he thinks is what the films are all headed toward.

I think what’s good about this is that each time, with the Avengers, we sort of made it difficult to separate them each time there’s some sort of conflict it’s like where’s the rest of the team? And I liked that Thor has another universe or the universe to sort of take care of and keep him occupied. I think that in the comic book the sort of end of days, Armageddon aspect is probably the direction in which it will all head in. Where it’s sort of the end of all things and there’s obviously no script or anything when I read the comic books I thought it was an interesting way to go.

The inclusion of Ragnarok would most likely involve comic book villain Surtur, leader of the Fire Demons of Muspelheim, as the primary antagonist. And when ‘Thor 2′ executive producer Craig Kyle was pressed on their potential to appear down the road, he reportedly danced around the issue, only stating that it is an important storyline from the comics. Though, Hemsworth was quick to exclaim, “bring them all in.”

So could this actually be an option for the potential ‘Thor 3′? Regardless, it’s interesting to note how Tom Hiddleston (Loki) previously expressed a desire to see the Enchantress appear in future installments, a character that seemingly dies in the comics as a result of Ragnarok and whom Hiddleston says he pitched to Marvel.

The studio has yet to officially announce ‘Thor 3,’ and ‘The Avengers: Age of Ultron’ has yet to start principal photography, so we’ll have to play the waiting game for now. In the meantime, ‘Thor: The Dark World’ hits theaters November 8.
