If I learned anything about Abu Dhabi from watching the entirety of Sex and the City 2 while sitting in a tattoo parlor waiting room (which actually happened and is not a joke), it’s that the United Arab Emirates city is a mecca of wealth. The oil-rich nation has concentrated much of its affluence in its capital, and accordingly, the area has exploded with development in recent years. Skyscrapers have cropped up like so many dandelions, massive tourist resorts now dot the coastline, and high-end boutique shopping caters to such fashionable visitors as Carrie Bradshaw and her pals. And while Abu Dhabi’s latest attraction won’t invite as many Dolce & Gabbana puns as one might like, it will delight comic book fans worldwide.

Variety reported today that Warner Bros. has begun readying a billion-dollar theme park in Abu Dhabi, including mini-worlds of Gotham City and Metropolis in order to monetize their superhero properties. The stomping grounds of Batman and Superman will share real estate with Cartoon Junction, Bedrock, and Dynamite Gulch, which draw inspiration from the characters of Looney Tunes and Hanna-Barbera. But the main attraction for many attendees of the park (set to open in 2018) will be the super-material, so without further ado, let’s begin combing the preview image for clues:

That first image depicts an artist’s rendering of the finished Gotham City, and it’s chockablock with nods to Batman and his well-known rogues gallery. There appears to be some manner of Joker-themed Funhouse there in the back, all but guaranteed to provide some unlucky 5-year-olds with primo childhood trauma material. A roller coaster peeks in the right side of the frame, the glowing green questions marks suggesting a link to Bruce Wayne’s constant foe the Riddler. And on the opposite side, a frosty kiosk hints at a Mr. Freeze-themed ice cream stand, for my money. At any rate, it should give diehard comic book nuts just the excuse they need to pull the trigger on the Abu Dhabi vacation they’ve always dreamed about.
