I never thought I'd say this, but I have to hand it to the FOX network for largely keeping to the single-camera sitcom with efforts like 'Raising Hope' and 'New Girl,' particularly against CBS' domination of the format and NBC's recent shameless attempts to replicate that success. That's why I (and I hope you) can be borderline optimistic  that 'Saturday Night Live' star Will Forte has joined FOX's upcoming single-camera sitcom 'Rebounding.'

Deadline TV's reports the series, produced by 'Modern Family' co-creator Steve Levitan and written/executive produced by Joe Port and Joe Wiseman, centers around Forte as "Danny," a man recovering from the death of his fiancee aided in his grief the idiots on his pickup basketball team.

The "uplifting" comedy series, whose pilot is to be directed by Jason Winer, also features Hayes MacArthur ('Perfect Couples'), Matt Jones ('Breaking Bad'), Aly Michalka ('Hellcats') and Malcolm Barrett ('Better Off Ted') rounding out the cast.  After, and even during his 'Saturday Night Live' tenure, Forte has made appearances in a number of films and TV shows, including 'Up All Night' and '30 Rock,' even as multiple characters.

Mind you, I actually enjoy 'New Girl' and hear decent things about 'Raising Hope,' and Will Forte always steals the show, so this one should be something to watch.  At the very least, it'll always be miles ahead of '2 Broke Girls'.

What do you think?  Is Will Forte's new fox effort 'Rebounding' something worth checking out, or sound a little too glummy for your tastes?  Give us your take and spare us your grieving widower stories in the comments below!
