Earlier today, Amazon’s long-gestating Woody Allen series finally got a name and official premiere, but how about some footage? The Miley Cyrus-led period piece gets a bizarre first teaser, in that only Allen himself appears in the first Crisis in Six Scenes footage.

After declining a full panel at the TCA press tour, Amazon released the first official Crisis in Six Scenes teaser, featuring Allen’s character requesting a haircut to make him look like James Dean. Considering any controversy around the project, as well this being our first footage of the six-episode, half-hour series, it would seem a curious choice to make Allen the only actor visible, given the other talent attached.

Premiering September 30, so reads the synopsis:

“Crisis in Six Scenes” is a comedy that takes place in the 1960s during turbulent times in the United States, when a middle class suburban family is visited by a guest who turns their household completely upside down.

Elsewhere of  Crisis in Six Scenes, we know the series stars the likes of Miley Cyrus, Elaine May, John Magaro, Rachel Brosnahan, Michael Rapaport, Becky Ann Baker, Lewis Black, Margaret Ladd, Joy Behar, Rebecca Schull, David Harbour, and Christine Ebersole.

We’ll see for ourselves on September 30, but what make we of Crisis in Six Scenes by the first footage?
