Microsoft and the NFL have signed an agreement which will see the Xbox One home to a variety of original and exclusive content from the biggest sport in the U.S. The partnership is part of Microsoft's plans to incorporate interactive television experiences into the Xbox One.

During the Xbox One reveal event, Microsoft took a significant portion of the program to showcase the new NFL viewing experience. Among the most interesting new components will be a dedicated NFL hub on the Xbox One. There users will be able to check out team and player info. Of course, that info will also be running side-by-side with any game broadcasts your watching, as Xbox One's NFL content will also feature fantasy football stats running in tandem with the game.

“When we started working with Roger Goodell and the team at the NFL we knew that we could create great new experiences that fans would love,” said Don Mattrick, President IEB Division at Microsoft. “This partnership will redefine NFL experiences through exclusive and interactive content that you will find only on Xbox.  For fans, the NFL on Xbox will provide the most complete way to enjoy live football by bringing the first fully-integrated fantasy football experience to the TV, exclusively through Xbox One.”

SmartGlass will also (finally) be a part of the picture, and Microsoft said it will be used to enhance the gameday experience. There wasn't much shown in regards to what SmartGlass can and will do for the NFL on Xbox, but it wouldn't be out of the realm of reason to expect box scores or real-time stat updates.

What do you think of the partnership? Will you make use of any of these features when they arrive?
