The 2012 MTV Movie Awards show is unlike any other event, and not just because most of the winners are determined by the fans. Instead of getting all dolled up for the occasion with fully styled tuxes and ball gowns, Hollywood celebs more commonly hit the red carpet in jeans and t-shirts.

Not many actors and actresses (who aren't Ryan Gosling, of course) know how to pull off the whole casual look, hence the seemingly endless list of worst-dressed celebs. But those who can are secretly considered the next big trend setters. So, let's see which celebrities pulled it out at the 2012 MTV Movie Awards and which ones did not.

Best Dressed Celebs -- 2012 MTV Movie Awards

Lately, Emma Stone has been rockin' the red carpet. If you remember, she wowed us at the 2012 Oscars with a majorly red dress. Now all that's left from that moment is her perfectly red lips, though it's just as effective.

Jessica Biel, on the other hand, decided to embrace white. Whether she was trying to channel 'Snow White and the Huntsman' or that stylish silhouette the 'Sex and the City' gals rocked a number of times on screen, we know Justin Timberlake is thanking his lucky stars for such a bombshell.

As Wiz Khalifa's finance Amber Rose told MTV's Kat Graham, she hasn't had a "mint moment" in a while. Thanks to the MTV Movie Awards then, huh? The above photo doesn't do the dress justice. What you're missing out on is all the reflecting-light action that gives Rose's outfit the motion and drama needed for a best-dressed moment.

Janelle Monae has a style that's all her own. It's two parts 'Great Gatsby,' one part hip-hop, one part high fashion and perhaps a half part hipster. What’s great about Monae is that she’s always true to her self while still being able to wow the heck out of us.

Another black moment came in the form of Kat Graham, MTV's red carpet style correspondent. It's no surprise that the fashionista stood out with her glamorous look, but doesn't she know not to outshine the stars?

Worst Dressed Celebs -- 2012 MTV Movie Awards

Now it's time for the part you've been frantically scrolling down the page for -- our list of worst-dressed celebrities from the 2012 MTV Movie Awards. Let's start with The Black Keys, shall we? Yeah, they graciously performed for Johnny Depp's Generation Award ceremony, but this jumpsuit business needs to stop.

Is singer-songwriter ZZ Ward (above left) the only attendee who wore a hat to the 2012 MTV Movie Awards? There's a reason for that and it's staring right at you above. (Doesn't look like she got the memo that Janelle Monae is the only one who can pull off hates.) But seriously, you think you could have dressed up a little bit more than what looks like an Urban Outfitter's graphic tee underneath there, Miss Ward?

Lauren McKnight's dress looked an awful like the 'Black Swan'-inspired design worm by Giuliana Rancic to the 2012 Oscars red carpet, only this one looks like it's been shredded and dragged through the streets.

Don't adjust your computer screen, those are in fact watches stitched into Christina Ricci's dress. We don't know what's going on with that overly-bedazzled bust, but it looks like she didn't understand the difference between "innovative" and T.G.I. Friday's waiter flair.

Then there's Brooke Hogan, who we can only imagine was channeling her dad's old wrestling outfits after he ripped them apart in the ring.

Julianne Hough may be trying to embrace her inner rock star to promote 'Rock of Ages,' but cut-offs should be contained to t-shirts.

We get it, Lucy Hale. Color is a major trend for the summer season, but this look is a little too beachy. In fact, we think we've seen this worn by Ariel from 'The Little Mermaid.'

Poor, Kristen Stewart. She just can't get it right. Remember last year's MTV Movie Awards? If you can't, well, her dress was a hot mess of red swirls overshadowed by too much eyeliner and... it wasn't much better than this one, which looks like she Scotch taped colored paper to herself.

And Ciara, the saying may be, "less is more," but you could have used more bottom. There's only a small strip of fabric covering your -- um -- not-so-photogenic areas.

LMFAO'S Red Foo seems to always make the worst dressed list, and we're sure he's embraced that fact. Now we just sit back, relax and wait to see what kind of train wreck he'll be next. This year it looks like he chose to be whatever the male equivalent of a cougar is.

'Project X's' Oliver Cooper, however, had no excuse, which is why he's officially our worst-dressed celebrity from the 2012 MTV Movie Awards. The event may have a more relaxed feel to it, but a track suit doesn't count as an actual suit. Sorry.
