Amazon’s New ‘Tick’ Spoons ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ Star Peter Serafinowicz
We’ll say this for The Tick, he knows how to burst through a wall of superhero news. Following Amazon’s recent confirmation that the iconically dim superhero would raise a spoon to a new series without original star Patrick Warburton, we have our man. Guardians of the Galaxy star Peter Serafinowicz is The Tick, coming to a rooftop near you.
Per Deadline, the long-gestating superhero series with a pilot order at Amazon will feature Serafinowicz as a hero recovering from a memory loss and re-teaming with his sidekick Arthur (Vinyl star Griffin Newman). The series also stars Valorie Curry as Arthur’s sister Dot, while Patrick Warburton is expected to executive produce.
Original writer-creator Ben Edlund and fellow original executive producer Barry Josephson will helm the new project. Additionally, Transcendence helmer Wally Pfister is in negotiations to direct the pilot, having worked as director of photography for The Dark Knight films.
There’s no telling what The Tick might look like in a modern context, but does Peter Serafinowicz fill the … blue … bodysuit … thing … as well as we’d hope?
