Watch the Edgar Wright-Approved ‘Baby Driver’ Remix from Mike Relm
Edgar Wright’s action movie pseudo-musical Baby Driver has perhaps one of the best movie soundtracks in recent memory, with a script effectively built around the music itself. Which is why a remix from one such as accomplished DJ Mike Relm is only appropriate.
The remix takes the first song off the soundtrack, “Bellbottoms” by the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, and footage and dialogue from the trailers to create an awesome re-edit of the movie that fits right in with Baby Driver’s debt to the music that inspired it. This movie was probably especially fun to work with because of all the deep, growly car sounds Relm could toss in here and there.
Relm is an accomplished movie remixer, creating videos for tons of well-known properties including Iron Man and the Avengers. Edgar Wright himself even loves this remix so much, he posted it on his Twitter today: “Play LOUD.”
A talented, young getaway driver (Ansel Elgort) relies on the beat of his personal soundtrack to be the best in the game. When he meets the girl of his dreams (Lily James), Baby sees a chance to ditch his criminal life and make a clean getaway. But after being coerced into working for a crime boss (Kevin Spacey), he must face the music when a doomed heist threatens his life, love and freedom.
Baby Driver stars Ansel Elgort, Jon Hamm, Jamie Foxx, Kevin Spacey, Lily James, Jon Bernthal and Eiza Gonzalez, and hits theaters June 28.
