Following their surprisingly delightful live-action version of Cinderella, it’s fair to say that our interest in Disney’s live-action Beauty and the Beast has grown quite a bit. Emma Watson and Dan Stevens have been cast as Belle and the Beast, respectively (although…), with a supporting cast that already includes Josh Gad and Luke Evans. And now two more great names have signed on for the fairy tale retelling: Emma Thompson and Kevin Kline.

THR reports that Thompson has joined the cast as Mrs. Potts, the matronly house servant who (along with her son Chip) is transformed into a teapot when the Beast is cursed. Could there be a more perfect role for Thompson? Kline will play Maurice, Belle’s earnest father, whose simple mistake gets him imprisoned in the Beast’s castle. Belle offers herself in her father’s stead, and the more time she spends with her monstrous captor, the more she grows to see past his frightening image.

Luke Evans will play the nefarious Gaston, while Josh Gad was recently reported as Gaston’s nebbish sidekick, Lefou. Gad’s casting was not confirmed in today’s announcement. Beauty and the Beast comes from screenwriter Stephen Chbosky (The Perks of Being a Wallflower) and director Bill Condon (Twilight: Breaking Dawn, Dreamgirls).

Disney has also set an official release date for their next live-action fairy tale, scheduling Beauty and the Beast for a March 17, 2017 release. The film will hit theaters in 2D and 3D formats.
