Earlier today, ‘Captain America’ screenwriters Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely gave us some hints about ‘Civil War,’ which will apparently have a connection to ‘Agent Carter.’ ‘The Winter Soldier’ and ‘Civil War’ directing duo Joe and Anthony Russo have a little bit of an addendum for that news, as they’ve just confirmed that Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow is returning for the third Cap movie.

‘Captain America: Civil War’ is going to be a major event, as it kicks off the arc that leads into ‘Avengers: Infinity War,’ and sets Steve Rogers and Tony Stark against each other. It’s also the film in which Chadwick Boseman’s Black Panther will make his debut before headlining his own solo movie. But Captain America, Iron Man, Falcon, and Black Panther will also be joined by Black Widow, as confirmed by the Russo brothers in a new interview.

At a press event in Beijing with Sina.com (via Comic Book Movie), Anthony Russo confirmed Scarlett Johansson’s return to the ‘Captain America’ franchise:

We’ve been preparing for the movie since the one debuted last year. So, we’ve been working on it for a long time now. We’re very happy how it’s coming along. Captain America 3 is gonna be called Captain America: Civil War and it’s going to star Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson will be back, Winter Soldier will be back, and Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man will also be joining us in the next film.

We already knew that Robert Downey Jr. would be joining the film, but it’s awesome to know that Black Widow will be kicking ass with her Avengers friends once again. Johansson and Chris Evans paired nicely in ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier,’ and with Civil War kicking off in the third Cap film, we wonder who’s side she’ll be taking between Tony Stark and Steve Rogers.

Earlier today, writers Markus and McFeely teased some of the elements of ‘Civil War,’ including ties to ‘Agent Carter’ and the involvement of both Peggy and Howard Stark. This is all exciting and intriguing news, and we can’t wait to see how these elements play out when ‘Captain America: Civil War’ hits theaters on May 6, 2016.
